FICEP: a winning technological choice
PLATES DRILLING AND THERMAL CUTTING
FICEP Kronos KR25SP allows Cesarini Carpenterie Metalliche to drill and cut plates having different size and thickness (up to 80 mm with plasma and 150 mm with oxyfuel).
MARKING AND BEVEL CUTTING
Thanks to the marking feature of Kronos, it’s possible to uniquely identify each single piece to be produced. The bevel cutting, thanks to the 3D torch for the realization of chamfers, ensures high efficiency in the welding phase without manual interventions by the operator.
ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT
Cesarini confirmed that he appreciates Ficep and his team for the constant assistance and consultancy support that the manufacturer is able to provide both for any process improvement and resolution of any critical issues on board the machine, and for the supply of spare parts and consumables.
Cesarini Carpenterie Metalliche was founded in Pineto (Teramo) after a 40-years experience in the steel construction, aluminum, copper and stainless steel sectors. In 2004 Mr. Lorenzo Cesarini, benefiting from the skills acquired by his father, decided to buy a new workshop and start the business. From the initial local orders, oriented to the civil-residential segment and carried out by a small number of people, the company grows rapidly over time, expanding its operational range and also its staff.
«Today – confirms Lorenzo Cesarini – our workforce reaches over 50 units, and is active in a new structure, equipped with the latest generation machinery and tools, which is spread over a total area of 11,000 square meters».
The new FICEP “gantry” system Kronos KR25SP for plates thermal cutting and drilling, acquired by Cesarini Carpenterie Metalliche through Ficep’s local partner FIMA Macchine Utensili based in Pescara, stands out in the new shop, inaugurated in December 2019.
«A very important investment for us – underlines Cesarini – perhaps the most important after the purchase of the new factory. At the same time it represents for us a further step in growth, as well as a true flagship among the technological equipment we have available today».
FROM THE PROJECT TO ERECTION
One of the strengths of the Abruzzo-based company lies in being able to provide a complete all-round service, at 360 degrees, which starts from the design and which, through the various transformation phases of the products, reaches the erection.
An operating context in which the new Kronos KR25SP system by FICEP, which satisfies all the requirements of Industry 4.0, has a key role in the management of the production processes.
«The reason of this new investment – explains Cesarini – was the decision to improve some operational aspects of the order management, being able to maintain even more strict deadlines, and bringing in-house some processes previously delegated to external suppliers. In this case I am referring mainly to the preparation of connection plates, which over time has proved to be complicated to manage. This also in view of the stringent need for high quality goods, punctuality of delivery, the need to eliminate possible errors even in the coordination of packing-lists».
This last aspect is anything but secondary, especially in view of the various assembly phases, which are sometimes very complex given the large number of pieces involved.
«Together with my father and our production manager – recalls Cesarini – we began to survey the market to identify a system that was able to meet our needs, carrying out all cutting and drilling operations for all the plates of our projects».
An intense research that led Cesarini Carpenterie Metalliche to evaluate the main brands not only in Italy but also in Europe.
A WINNING TECHNOLOGICAL CHOISE, FOR THE PRESENT AND FOR THE FUTURE
«In the end – confirms Cesarini – we chose the system proposed by Ficep essentially for two reasons. The first has a technical nature, linked to the ability to be able to complete, before the cutting phase, all the most diverse holes using drilling and not flame technologies».
This request is overseen by the ISO 1090 certification to which the company must refer, with execution class from 1st to 4th class, the most demanding in terms of precision.
«In addition to the drilling – continues Cesarini – the ability to mark was also greatly appreciated, which takes place even before the drilling and cutting phases, but which allows each piece to be produced to be uniquely identified. As well as the possibility of bevel cutting, which thanks to the 3D torch allows the realization of chamfers and ensures high efficiency in the welding phase without manual interventions by the operator, which in turn facilitates the assembly stage».
Cesarini himself also confirmed that he appreciates Ficep and his team for the constant assistance and consultancy support that the manufacturer is able to provide both for any process improvement and resolution of any critical issues on board the machine, and for the supply of spare parts and consumables.
With the new FICEP system, the Abruzzo-based company has started to manufacture internally plates of various types, with thicknesses between 5 and 60 mm; the maximum thickness seems to make the Ficep Kronos KR25SP oversized for Cesarini. In fact, it is capable of plasma cutting (also bevel cut) up to 80 mm thickness; in addition, thanks to the oxyfuel torch, the thickness that can be processed with a straight cut can reach 150 mm, the same thickness that can also be drilled.
«The machine is deliberately oversized – observes Cesarini – in view of the future constantly growing market needs, with requests for always higher thicknesses».
