INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND TANGIBLE RESULTS

FICEP Technology and the Automated PVX 230 System

The new system developed by FICEP combines the PVX 230 friction screw press with a robot equipped with a dual-magnet, delivering exceptional precision and a fully automated production process.

Tangible Benefits and People-Centered Value

The new system has improved productivity, reduced processing times and enhanced the quality of the final product, while significantly decreasing manual operations and noise levels.

A Partnership Built on a Shared Industrial Vision

The collaboration between FICEP and Chiaravalli Group is rooted in a shared industrial culture, driven by quality, innovation, and strong local roots.

In the industrial sector, innovating a production process means much more than simply introducing new technology. It means choosing a partner capable of understanding industrial requirements, production goals and a company’s long-term vision. This shared approach is the foundation of the collaboration between FICEP and Chiaravalli Group, two companies united by a strong industrial culture, a commitment to quality and deep roots in their local communities.

Founded in 1952, Chiaravalli Group is now an internationally recognized leader in the mechanical power transmission and special components industry. With around 360 employees and Group revenues exceeding €100 million, the company operates through four business divisions—Industrial, Special Components, Food and Motorcycle—serving markets across Europe, South America and Asia.

Despite its international growth, Chiaravalli Group has always remained true to a clear philosophy: building long-term relationships with outstanding local partners capable of delivering technical expertise, reliability, and responsiveness. This vision found a perfect match in FICEP. The collaboration between the two companies began with a major production modernization project. After nearly twenty years, Chiaravalli decided to completely redesign the stamping process for slicer blades, a product segment in which the Group is now the global market leader. It was a particularly strategic and challenging step: modernizing a highly specialized, long-established process that relied heavily on manual operations, while improving precision, efficiency and production continuity without compromising the final product quality.

To address this challenge, FICEP developed a fully automated blade stamping system featuring the PVX 230 friction screw press integrated with a robot equipped with a dual-magnet. The solution was specifically designed to deliver outstanding precision, operational reliability and optimized production flow. The decision to adopt FICEP’s technology followed a thorough on-site evaluation, further reinforced during an Open House event where the Chiaravalli team had the opportunity to experience firsthand the build quality, machine performance and engineering expertise that define FICEP’s approach.

According to Dr. Andrea Chiaravalli, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Group, the trust built between the two companies over the years certainly facilitated the dialogue, but the final decision was ultimately driven by the proven effectiveness of the proposed solution.

“The long-standing relationship between our families has certainly helped establish an atmosphere of mutual trust from the very beginning. However, selecting the right partner had to be based on the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed solution. From the very first installation, we experienced significant improvements in an extremely delicate production process.”

The introduction of the PVX 230 screw press into the automated production system has delivered tangible benefits throughout the entire manufacturing process. The improved stamping accuracy has enhanced the quality of semi-finished components while increasing the efficiency of subsequent production stages, resulting in shorter processing times and greater operational continuity.
The benefits have also extended to the company’s responsiveness to market demands. Thanks to the optimized production process, Chiaravalli has increased its ability to handle special orders more quickly, while further improving both its competitiveness and overall operational efficiency.

Another particularly important benefit has been the improvement of working conditions within the production facility. The automation introduced by the FICEP system has significantly reduced both manual operations and the noise generated by the manufacturing process—an especially important consideration for a plant located close to residential areas.

For Chiaravalli, however, automation is not intended to replace people, but rather to enhance their role and expertise.

“We strongly believe in automation and in improving the efficiency of production processes, not to reduce the workforce, but to invest in people by enabling them to focus on higher-value, quality-driven activities while reducing manual work. The automated system developed with FICEP has allowed us to achieve a significant technological leap.”

One of the key strengths of the collaboration was FICEP’s consultative approach. The project was developed through continuous cooperation between the technical teams of both companies, with the objective of delivering not simply a machine, but a production solution tailored to Chiaravalli’s specific needs. The strong exchange of technical know-how and the ability of two highly specialized manufacturing companies to work closely together facilitated every stage of the project, from the initial analysis through to the integration of the system into the production process.

Today, the collaboration between FICEP and Chiaravalli Group stands as a tangible example of how innovation, automation and technical expertise can create lasting value when built on a shared vision—transforming a technological investment into a genuine driver of industrial growth.
