Ficep. The world, our family
The history of Ficep is also the story of two families brought together by the same entrepreneurial spirit.
Ficep was founded in October 1930 by the Colombo and the Giuliani families in Gazzada As “Fabbrica Italiana Cesoie e Punzonatrici” – Italian Shears and Punching Machines Factory.
In October, the “Fabbrica Italiana Cesoie e Punzonatrici” is built.

Ficep starts to produce manual shears, motorized punching and shearing machines and scrap metal shears.

Coming out of the gloomy years of the Second World War, Ficep offered an important contribution to rebuilding Italy’s construction heritage after the war. Ficep’s first factory engaged in the heavy mechanical manufacturing is inaugurated.

An important technological leap forward is made with the shift to electronics and the production of innovative automatic numerical-controlled lines for structural steel fabrication.

During years of deep social change, in 1974 Ficep changed its company name to become a “SpA” (Limited company), to come into line with the international requirements of the market.

The first Ficep overseas subsidiary is established. Since then, an additional 16 subsidiaries have been founded worldwide.

Ficep introduces the revolutionary permanent Direct Drive linear motor technology to the screw press product line. This industry leading product enables the energy requirements to be reduced while maintaining productive capacity.

While facing aggressive competition in terms of prices, Ficep developed a logical network of companies, with satellite, highly-specialized and flexible firms. The concept enabled it to reduce cost without renouncing the highest standards of quality.

The pioneering concept of extending Ficep’s knowledge to the niche industries in the steel fabricating and forging is achieved.

Riding the positive trend of the global market, Ficep expanded their capacity with the acquisition of a 35.000 square meter (375,000 square feet) facility. This new machining plant was then equipped with the latest technology in CNC machining.

With 17 direct subsidiaries throughout the world, Ficep is the world’s leading manufacturer of automatic steel processing equipment and supplier of dedicated software for the production management.
