Over 60 years of collaboration

Partnership since the 1960s

A relationship born in the 1960s and grown over time, based on trust, continuity and shared development.

Integrated technology

Over 50 FICEP machines installed, including presses, shears and saws, for a complete and efficient production process.

Continuous innovation

Thanks to FICEP Direct Drive presses in the “L” versions, the Poppi Group is able to produce complex and long components with high precision standards.

The Poppi Forging Group, headquartered in Italy between the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara, today represents a solid and internationally recognized company in the hot forging sector.

The Group, founded by the current Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ugo Poppi, consists of Elettrostamperie Poppi S.p.A., established in 1962, and Poppi Ugo Euroforge S.p.A., active since 1969: two complementary companies that, over time, have built a strong industrial identity based on expertise, flexibility and innovation capability.

Since its origins, the Group has believed in technological innovation as an essential element for offering competitive and technologically advanced products. The development of know-how, the application of electrical upsetting, and the constant focus on quality have been placed at the core of the company’s growth.

This approach has enabled the Poppi Group to operate successfully in several strategic sectors, including earthmoving, agricultural, automotive, transmission, aerospace and industrial industries, serving customers throughout Europe and the United States.

Within this growth path, the collaboration with FICEP, which began already in the 1960s, plays an important role. As stated by Mr. Poppi:

“From the very first contacts, the Poppi Group identified FICEP solutions as a technological partner capable of supporting production development with faster, more reliable, and higher-performing machines.”

The introduction of the first presses represented a fundamental step, making it possible to significantly improve process efficiency and increase die life, a key element in hot forging.

The Company President explains:

“With FICEP, over the years we have built a stable and concrete collaboration, based on trust and technical continuity. It is a relationship that has allowed us to develop our production processes in a reliable and structured way.”

Today, the Emilia-based Group has an extremely extensive FICEP machine fleet, including presses, shears and saws, for a total of more than 50 systems installed over time.

The decision to rely on a single technological partner for multiple stages of the process – from cutting to forging – has made it possible to achieve a high level of production integration, improving plant reliability and guaranteeing consistent quality standards.

One of the most significant aspects of this collaboration is represented by the direct relationship between the two companies. The geographical proximity between FICEP and the Poppi Group plants has always facilitated timely and effective support.

Over time, the assistance service has evolved, integrating new technologies such as remote support, which allows even faster and more targeted interventions. Added to this is the expertise of the new generations of technicians, capable of responding promptly to production needs and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the systems.

At the same time, the Poppi Forging Group has undertaken an important path of internal innovation, investing in automation and digitalization.

The introduction of automated warehouses and advanced control systems has made it possible to manage materials more efficiently and ensure full traceability of production, guaranteeing quality and reliability throughout the entire supply chain. This approach has profoundly transformed the plants, making them increasingly modern and efficiency-oriented.

The latest FICEP technologies have contributed significantly to this development. In particular, the Direct Drive presses in the “L” versions have enabled the Group to further expand its production capabilities, making it possible to manufacture large-sized components and long-length parts. Thanks to these solutions, it has been possible to push production performance to its limits, while maintaining high levels of precision and control.

The reduction in setup times and the greater understanding of processing parameters have made it possible to successfully face an increasingly demanding and dynamic market.

The two companies within the Group operate in a synergistic and complementary way: Elettrostamperie Poppi specializes in components up to 10 kg for electrical upsetting (with flange diameters up to 200 mm) and up to 7 kg for forged parts (up to 180 mm), while Poppi Ugo Euroforge stands out for larger-scale production, with electrical upsetting parts up to 160 kg (flange diameter up to 500 mm) and forged parts up to 96 kg (up to 210 mm). This integration allows the Group to respond to a wide range of needs while always maintaining high quality standards.

Today, the collaboration between FICEP and the Poppi Forging Group represents a concrete example of a long-term industrial relationship, built on trust, innovation and shared growth.

A journey that began over 60 years ago in Italy and continues to evolve, with the aim of facing future challenges together and developing increasingly advanced solutions for the forging industry.
